Life in Crete, April 2020

We are all confined in these times of COVID 19, but in Crete we are on the more carefree, more colorful part: all the greens of spring and the colors of flowers and fruits frame the blues of the skies and seas from this perspective… The reds of the sunrises and sunsets can also be enjoyed from the windows.
We are at CASA AMICA in Neo Chorio, from here you can see if the Kalyves sea is choppy, if the wind is today from the South, which also brings the sand of the desert through the Lefka Ori, or rather from the North which perhaps will lower the temperatures…
From here you can see the birds that take advantage of the branches of olive trees, mulberry trees and apricot trees, orange and lemon trees, of the cables stretched between the houses at the various heights of the hill.
From here the whole Apokoronas is home: this peninsula whose inhabitants are often foreigners who have chosen to live like the “mythical Greeks”, sits peacefully in the sea that closes the Gulf of Souda, or the port of Chania.
Yet upstream the Apokoronas is facilitated by some of the greenest roads and plains on the island that lead easily both to the east, towards Rethimno and Heraklion and to the west, towards Chania and the most beautiful beaches on the island.
From here, from CASA AMICA, in addition to spending time visiting the rest of the island, it is also possible to deal with art and cooking: the people who welcome and the spaces outside and inside CASA AMICA are suitable for these purposes!
We are and we will be happy, indeed happy, to share the good fortune of being here with our guests.
